“Sumud” is an Arabic word meaning steadfastness—used by Palestinians to describe a form of resistance rooted in presence, endurance, and refusal to be erased. This scent is made in solidarity, as a fragrant act of resistance.
An attar is a highly concentrated, alcohol-free perfume oil—traditionally made by infusing rare botanicals into natural sandalwood oil. These oils are worn sparingly on the skin and evolve slowly over hours or even days. The 3mL attar in this release is composed almost entirely of natural materials, including New Caledonian sandalwood and real Indian oud, making it both powerful and precious.
“This new scent is oud based so it's very special. It’s kind of an old skool hectic Middle Eastern / Indian oud compositon; it’s almost offensive in its animalic nature but it’s so utterly beautiful, that’s why I see it as a ‘fuck you’. It's balanced with a crazy fruity note—saffron and apple tea. Then it has a hefty peppery / spice cumin note. So a real big, sharp, spicy, fruity fighting tonic.
It's fierce, challenging, there is a real oomph to it; it feels like fire. I imagine spraying it in the eyes of the IOF. I see it as empowering; like I would wear it to then go and protest / resist. It’s like HERE I AM.”
